Carlo,

Very cool. I understand from Bonaire's leading naturalist, Jerry Ligon, that the silver snakes are generally found out under rocks and so on, but since they are so small they are often overlooked. I've also been told that each of our islands has its own similar species.

I live in Curaçao and I have seen these snakes in my garden these last year at least 3 times. I have a foto made with my cellphone. I can tell that these were very small less than 4 inch (100 mm). If you like I can send you a photo just send me your mail and i'll send it to you. You can also take a look at http://naturacao.100megsdns.com/krustas/kolpret.html. This is a better pic than what I have taken (high res.)

Yes, Catalan is quite similar to French...sort of a mixture between the two! Euskadi may be similar to Galician, and I think it actually may be a Celtic derivitive (I think I've heard that before).

Ok, no BCN this trip. Well, do check out the Dali Museum in Figueres, if you haven't done that before. Dali's former home, now a museum, in Port Lligat is a nice detour. And there are some cool roman ruins all around there as well. I see you are going to Roses, so I assume you'll pass through Cadaques. I really loved a small seaside town called Canyelles Petits, but I don't know if it has been ruined by "urbanizacion". It's a great area, and you've picked a nice time to be there: still warm and sunny, but "the season" is over and it will be more mellow. Report back and/or along the way!
